Drilling into hard rock is performed based on the principle of rotary percussive drilling. Top hammers are used for this purpose and air is the flushing medium used to flush drill cuttings from the borehole.

In hard rock drilling, boring is the process of enlarging a hole that has already been drilled by means of a single-point cutting tool, such as in boring a gun barrel or an engine cylinder. Boring is used to achieve greater accuracy of the diameter of a hole and can be used to cut a tapered hole.

The major component for hard rock drilling is the down-the-hole hammer drill. We use new technology built in South Korea with micro percussion and driven by an air compressor that delivers 1298 cubic feet per minute at 350-pound pressure, which requires a 600 horsepower, 16 litre, Cat motor.
